About the Recipe

Sometimes, all you need in life is a big, warm and delicious homemade pizza. This recipe is easy and simple and tastes fabulous! One of my favourite parts of making pizza is that everyone gets involved, from kneeding and rolling the dough, to topping it with your favourite ingredients. It creates an experience with family and friends. So, get involved this weekend! Make your favourite pizza surrounded by those you love the most.

Ingredients

FOR THE DOUGH:

3 cups plain flour, plus extra for dusting

1.5 cups warm water

Pinch of sugar

2 tsp instant dried yeast

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for brushing

TOPPING IDEAS:

(1) Tomato paste, cheddar cheese, prosciutto, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes & rocket

(2) Tomato paste, fresh prawns, chilli & rocket

Preparation

Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt together with a wooden spoon in a bowl.

Make a well in the centre and add the warm water and olive oil.

Mix at first with the wooden spoon, and then with your hands to form a dough.

Put the dough onto a lightly floured surface and kneed for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Mix dough into a ball. Place into a bowl drizzled in a pinch of olive oil. Cover with plastic wrap or a towel and leave in a warm place to rise for 3 hours.

Once ready, dust working surface with flour and cut the pizza into 3 sections.

With a rolling pin, roll into pizza shapes. The dough should be quite thin. You can curl up the sides if you want a thicker base.

Poke the dough with small holes with a fork, and cook for 5 mins with the tomato paste in a HOT oven for 5 mins (250°C)

Take out, add your favourite toppings and cook for a further 10-15 minutes on 180°C.
